The Sneaky Surprise Dinner Party!

Beyond watching salmon in the pouring rain and brad diligently studying on Friday...our friends had schemed a sneaky surprise fondue dinner with strawberry shortcake for dessert for my birthday. It was a FABULOUS time - thanks M & T! It was a surprise and I had already had so much birthday fun the day before!

Salmon Run

Friday, Veterans/Remembrance day held the adventure of braving the rains to see the salmon running....and well, yes, see them dying as well. I think we picked the only hour of the day that the rain was pouring down but nonetheless - it was worth it to see this amazing natural phenomenon. Though you can't tell in our pics there are tons of salmon swimming up stream in the water. But we captured the dead ones in full view. :) And then all these seagulls were sitting around with bulging stomachs too full to fly.We were amazed at how big the fish are, how many there are and how beat up they get during their mission to go up river, spawn and die.

I Love Lucy!

Lucy is the best dog ever! A scrambling bundle of energetic enthusiasm as you can see - as she chases me wildly out on Cannon Beach, Oregon. And what an amazing place the Oregon coast is! The mystic atmosphere that hovers between the soft sandy vast beach and the mist hanging over the landforms suffering the bantering waves just off the rugged coast. We hope to go back soon- our visit back in august was way to short...and Lucy should come too -but only if she brings jen with her.
